Anytime Bob Johnson is your emissary, you're in trouble. The whole way this VP thing happening is pretty sloppy. I see a bunch of hald-assed yes-men, and surrogates, who know if Obama wins without Clinton they're on the outs, pressing this thing harder than she is. Man this is sketchy. Folks this is just too much drama. He needs to run away as fast he can.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
More evidence- Obama picked Caroline Kennedy for the VP search team. There goes the short list.
As a lifelong multi-generational Democrat, I really applaud Senator (soon to be President) Obama for not falling for the immediate pressure he was placed under once he clinched the nomination. I really admire this man; he seems to me to be even more of the epitome of what America was originally about. Son of an immigrant, born an American, and has truly overcome all kinds of obstacles to gain his education and personal advancement to where he is today: poised to lead us (America) back out of the abyss that the Busheviks and neo-cons (I'm including the DLC in this - ossified neo-reTHUGs) has dropped us into.
To me, this is the true fear that the DLC and other reTHUGs have towards the senator from Illinois; he's the quintessential American. His ethnicity is only an issue to those who are so afraid of someone who is even slightly different that they will cling to poison over attempting to accept another's slight difference. We see this across all ethnic groups, and not just in our nation, but it really comes out during American elections. People who are afraid of Senator Obama should really look in the mirror - oh wait, we're talking about people who think 'American Idol' is an actual competition :-).
Seriously, I am ecstatic about soon-to-be President Obama; I feel his presidency will become another turning point in American history back to the light. Being a historically minded person, I am acutely aware that FDR had the opportunity to turn America into a cult of personality dictatorship, but declined to do so in the worst period of this nation's history. I think Senator Obama, being a constitutional scholar, will reverse the Bushevik dictatorship and return America to the actual rule of law. I completely support Obama, and am very proud of my 'Veteran for Obama' status.
