Awesome insight re: people who don't watch TV loving the Wire. I'm always skeptical of recommendations that begin, "Now I don't even LIKE _____ but you'll love this!"
Of course, I just got the first season DVD ready to rock and you come at me with spoilers?! Have some compassion for those of us who are slow on the uptake. :)
I watch a lot of TV here in Canada, and i do think that The Wire is the best show on TV in the last 20 yrs. Oz is a close second, and Homicide is 3rd.
Ta-Nehisi is becoming SO BIG!!!!! Everyone who is anyone in the blogosphere links to him. A great book out. TV. Radio. AND Bloggingheads. Is he the breakout media star of the year? Hope this means some cash. Maybe he can get on the Atlantic, what Mickey Kaus calls the "last journalistic gravy train in town." They need a new voice to replace Matt Yglesias.
