If the Packers think they don't need him, why not have the balls to let him go?
If they keep him around and not let him start, can you imagine the pressure on Aaron Rogers?
If they start him and he's terrible, it will be blamed on the management more than Favre himself. Nothing good can come out of this for the Packers' management.

If I hear "Brett Farve gives the Packers a better chance at winning" from these idolizing paparazzi at ESPN one more time, I'm gonna freak. How would anyone know that without seeing what Aaron Rodgers can do? One senile John Madden is enough for this world. Hello, Farve was the reason they lost to the Giants in the playoffs. As my wife said to me yesterday, "isn't he embarassed about what he's doing?"

Someone says we don't know if Favre give the Packers a better shot than Rodgers *until we find out what Rodgers can do*? So the team should bench its most popular player, one of its two or three best last season, because they just think the other guy MIGHT give thema better shot?
You get sick of ESPN saying that Favre gives them a better shot? Then turn off the TV cuz no sane person will go on TV and say anything else, hence ya haters have to get on the internets to plug ya hatin'.
Apart from the merits (and may the best man win the QB competion, and a trade not intercede), I think non-Wisconsinites likely don't get what's actually going on with all the the Favre-love up here. That Packer Nation is even divided on this at all is itself a great testiment to our level-headedness. We so completely identify with this guy up here that a Super Bowl victory without him would be met with not an inconsiderable amount of sadness. This guy really could play as long as he wants; we don't need a new era until he can't walk anymore if that's what he wants. Ted Thompson is viewed with extreme suspicion here despite undeniable results.
The organization wants to win again, the sooner the better. But if they can first bring the bond to this great hero to a happy conclusion, forestalling the new era by one more year (or two) is more than an acceptable price.
