my advice and allow Clinton's name to be put up for nomination. Smart move. The kid has absolutely nothing to lose by doing this. Too many people fight over things on GP. There is no real reason--short of spite--to deny Hillary this. Snap necks when you have to. At all other points, make as much love as possible. Words to live by, son.

Of course you're right Ta-Nahisi, but it's in the Clinton's DNA to wreck as much political havoc as they possibly can, to see what weaknesses they can exploit. See the reports today that Obama is "snubbing" Charley Rangel by not having him speak at the convention. The Clinton's and their supporters will push and prod and tear as much as they dare in an attempt to remain powerbrokers over the party. The nomination battle may have ended, but the Clinton's are fighting tooth and nail behind the scenes to hold Big Boss status. As such, this rolecall does have some degree of risk for Obama.
Hopefully, he's got someone keeping an eye on internal party dynamics while he focuses on McCain. The Clinton's would love nothing more than to eat, even a little into Obama's delegate total during a rollcall.
The vast majority of blowhards on cable tv will portray this as a major weakness on Obama's part.
Idiots like Joe Scarborough, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Chris Matthews, and Bill O'Reilly will be giddy with delight and have a field day questioning Obama's masculinity. These idiots will kick it into high gear mocking Obama while showing endless loops of floor demonstrations in support of Hillary.
Bill, Hillary, and her most fanatical deadender supporters won't be truly satisfied until Obama is defeated by McCain.

I've never understood Hillary Clinton--who the heck talks about the benefits of more Greek drama at the convention?--so I'm not sure how she expects this to play out. If she embraces the role of party elder giving the next generation her blessing, the theater should play out okay. (I reject first lady as a viable path to the presidency--that's one per power couple--so hope she and her supporters are moving on from the "no woman but Hillary may stand" nonsense.) If she and Bill seem to be trying for "Wait, wait, the next act can't begin until we do another encore turn for the fans....Fans! Get back in your seats!" I think it will embarass them without hurting Obama....after which I hope to be done with the Clintons and their Greek drama.

This is just Dem's buying votes like always. From the beginning BHO has been serving his own personal goals & selfish political interest. He puts himself first; he has never done anything to better or help the USA. It is pretty clear that neither he, or for that matter, nor his wife really give a damn about this country. The same country that has, by their own admission, helped them both become highly educated and financially successful. No way am I going to vote for this poser. Wake up America!
I think this is a time to snap necks, or ,more accurately, play it safe.
The best GP here is "Nip it in the bud". If Hillary truly supports Obama why even put your name on the ballot if for nothing else but to wait for the right time to strike. Who knows? Look what happened to Bobby Kennedy. Marking the clinch the nomination item as done would free up the Obama strategy team to focus completely on McCain. This is just going to be a distraction.
She'd deserve a roll call vote, if she had not drove up Obama's negatives and conceded when it was obvious to everyone else but her that she could not mathematically win the nomination.
She's speaking at the convention - the night before roll call - and so is Bill. Thats reaching out enough as far as I'm concerned.
