Man I'm watching her on Morning Joe. Good lord is she the Alan Colmes of MSNBC? Man they just walk right over her. Joe and Pat just push her aside. Why is she on the show? The irony of course, is that I'm watching them do this just as they're praising Hillary Clinton's run.

UPDATE: Closed the thread. Sorry guys, I'm going to be on and offline. This could get out of hand.

I've wondered that many a time myself. She's definitely worthless; matter of fact I don't even watch Morning Joe any more. I couldn't handle his doucheness & her inane 'uh huhs' & 'mmmmss'. God forbid she ever offer an insightful comment or analysis &/or stand up to his Joe-ness. She's like the rabbit on Captain Kangaroo--just a prop for the Captain to entertain the wee ones with.

she has no core beliefs or values that she articulates. she is there to ensure republican messaging throughout the morning.

I think they should put a Rachel Maddow type woman on that show to even out the opinions. But Joe strikes me as the type of character that would crumble if a woman with spine and intelligence stood up to him.

Ha @ 'Alan Colmes of MSNBC.' Very astute observation. I don't remember her being railroaded when I used to try and watch this show regularly, but now it's just ridiculous. Did she ever get to talk about her favorite op-ed's this morning? I like her when they actually let her speak. Joe doesn't seem to respect women all that much. I recall him being very rude to Rachel Maddow when he subbed on that horrible David Gregory show.

By the way, am I the only one annoyed by all of the nepotism over at MSNBC? Luke Russert is terrible, Willie Geist isn't funny, and Courtney whatever -- I don't get her purpose.

I think they should put a Rachel Maddow type woman on that show to even out the opinions.

Rachel Maddow is a rare individual including all men and women. She's smart as hell, debates extremely well even with the extreme limits of television discourse and tops it all off by being wickedly funny and incredibly telegenic. If there are any more Rachel Maddow types anywhere, male or female, they should all have their own television shows and shouldn't have to waste their beautiful minds talking to a douchebag like Scarborough. That's for the JV squad.

Why is she on the show?

A better question is why are Joe and Pat on the network?

But Joe strikes me as the type of character that would crumble if a woman with spine and intelligence stood up to him.

I don't have time to find the clip right now but Maddow did in fact make Joe run away and hide once. They were debating on Race to the White House I think and she, as she usually does, refused to buy whatever bullshit he was trying to sell and explained in pretty clear terms why his argument was complete crap. He ended up taking off his mike and leaving because he had been so thoroughly humiliated.

Joe Scar has the debating skills and the emotional maturity of a 12 year old. He ought to be embarrassed for himself but in the world of TV journalism he is probably in the top half of the class.

Good ole Joe is being his usual jackass self with an intelligent woman who dares challenge his views. Thank you, Susan Rice. Mika, take notes on how to interject.

msnbc is trying to be respected as an unbiased newsite as a counter to Fox by having both liberals and republicans as pundits. Unfortunately, however, they undercut this when the only republicans they hire are ex-politicians. And since we're all familiar with Republicans as bullies, they think the way to show their lack of bias is to hire republicans who are bullies. Weird.

I want to see Rachel Maddow continue to beat these guys, not by being an ass like Olbermann, but by being smarter and not laying down for their crap.

Wasn't Mika the one who simply refused to read some story she thought ridiculous, not news and demeaning to women a few months ago?

I used to watch this show more often but it gets a bit repetative with the same guests. My views are probably in the minority around here, but I think Morning Joe is vastly better than Edward R. Olbermann's show. Scarborough at leasts debates other points of view, and isn't afraid to have dissenting guests. Scarborough can be overbearing and bullying, but unlike Olbermann, he does stray from the talking points, while Olby twisted himself into a pretzel excusing Obama's FISA vote.

My two zlotys: Mika is playing her assigned role. Think of it as theater, with Joe playing the older, bossy brother, and Mika the always treacly submissive, but smarter, younger sister. The real problem is that it's lousy theater and MSNBC could do a lot better.

I'm sort of baffled by this.

Mika Brezynki's position is as the news reader. It's typical position in news and radio (Robin Quivers is another example). Her role is to play the straight woman to Joe's jocular host.

I'm a very partisan Dem, but it's not the responsibility of every show and every host to be Olbermann or Maddow. That would not be a very interesting world.

I like Morning Joe. I like it a lot more than Imus.

If it's not your thing, don't watch.

Deleted. Not related at all to the topic. And not even funny.

Ta-Nehisi, mind cleaning up this mess that someone dumped in here?

As for Mika, she's just a poor fit with a personality like Scarborough's. Or a perfect fit, depending on your perspective. She didn't use to be such a intellectual pushover, but as the election has crept closer, and the stakes higher for the Republicans, Joe Scarborough's inner douchebag has gotten bigger and bigger. He's always been a huge douche, but he's managed to temper that at times and come across as human. Now he has some incentive to actively bully Mika on set on a regular basis, and it's not like he wasn't doing it before with incentive. Mika just doesn't have it in her to push back.

It's why I stopped watching the show awhile back.

Joe is by far the best morning news show. Mika is annoying but a small price to pay for Joe. Pat Buchanan is an unrepentant anti-Semite who should be relegated to MyDD or HuffPo. Fox & Friends is all fluff, dull as could be. The nets are boooring. CNN is, well, I haven't looked at it in years, so who knows? Imus has become as safe and booring as possible, and his new sidekicks ( the girl and the black guy) are horrible. But Joe is pretty smart and, as noted above, is willing to engage in reasoned debate.

Haven't seen Maddow, so can't comment. But Olbermann is the cable equivalent of Michael Savage. 'nuff said.

mika is strictly eye candy.
period.
the equivalent of the pretty weatherlady who keeps a certain percentage of the male viewing population tuned in.
scarborough is a textbook example of the classic republican: strictly a bully who can only function adequately when he controls the game and changes the rule on the fly, to fit his need at any particular time.
what is funny about him is watching his pitiful attempts to misrepresent himself as a guy who is right down the middle, as he tells his viewers every 15 minutes.
note to joe: if you are really right down the middle, if you actually criticize both sides faairly, you don't have to TELL people! they know that to be true because they SEE it and HEAR it with their own eyes.
he is a republican hack, has always been a republican hack and his republican hackiness is becoming more obvious and apparent every day.

Also, Mika is a good looking woman, which surprising when you look at her father.

That said, the hottest morning chick has got to be Robin Meade.

Morning Joe is a super-sized, putrid, steaming pile of excrement. The program is a flat-out abomination and an insult to logic, reason, common sense, and good taste. It's mystifying and sickening that this program is a huge hit.

Joe Scarborough is a smarmy, smug, sleazy, lying swine. He's also a knuckle-dragging neanderthal. It's another sign of how far our nation has sunk that this man is a success.

MSNBC has a lot of nerve to inflict this wretched, godawful show on the publice.

Enough with the equivocation JK, how do you feel about Morning Joe?

You know, Jay, that "How do you really feel" thing was funny the first couple of hundred times, but it's old and stale by now.

Did you ever think it might be a little worn-out?

Just a little?

What does is say about you (i.e. most commenters) that you spend your workday anonymously slamming people?

I have basic cable, which means that I have 72 channels to watch. Your responsibility as a viewer is to watch good TV and not watch bad TV. When people agree with you, bad shows will go off the air, and you will be vindicated. When other people don't agree with you, shows will stay on the air.

It won't matter to you, however, because you're not watching it.

Joe Scarborough is a low-rent douchewhistle. Morning television (and radio) is such weak sauce that I've never found a reason to turn away from reading the newspaper or a periodical.

Yes, I still read print.

mika has to go.....enough said.......

She is the Robin Quivers of TV news.

It was laughable seeing her literally try to set fire to a Paris Hilton story some time back, considering she allows herself to be disrespected on a daily basis by Scarborough and his boys' club. She's on there to add sex appeal (for suburban dads, I guess) and be Joe's sidekick in much the same way that Quivers is on Stern. If she had a fucking iota of self-respect, she'd have walked off the set months ago.

And as for an intelligent, confident woman - Maddow showed on "Race for the White House" why that'll NEVER happen. And heaven forbid even a man question Joe on his show - if I'm David Shuster, I'm never going on that show again after Monday's spectacle.

"Morning Joe" has become a joke. Thankfully, I'm in Philadelphia and get to listen to Michael Smerconish in the mornings to get an intelligent conservative perspective.

I've watched Morning Joe frequently since it started, but it is becoming unwatchable. Mika, I believe, wants to be viewed as a real, unbiased journalist (which she has been for many years). Hence, she does not believe it's her job to provide the counter-argument to Joe. However, she does allow Joe to bully her, and I've wondered if growing up with bullying brothers raised her tolerance for that kind of behavior. I long for her to slap him down -- literally or figuratively.

The producers are exploiting her good looks at the expense of her good sense. She's a serious woman, but MSNBC doesn't really want that on this show. I guess there's room for only one serious woman at that network.

Joe is frequently insufferable, but not always. Interestingly, the show was much better a year ago, and especially during the early primaries, when everything was up in the air. They were fun and entertaining doing their on-location shows, but as the race has narrowed down the fun is gone. Also, Joe needs to learn how to ask a question without delivering a stump speech at the same time.

Pat Buchanan should be removed from all television networks. He is a bigot, and he's frequently just wrong when talking electoral politics.

I like Willie Geist; his father works at CBS, so I don't see how nepotism is involved. He and Courtney do the more light-hearted stuff, and don't we all need some of that in the morning.

Unfortunately, Joe was away from the show for several weeks this spring after his new baby was born prematurely. On the other hand -- and fortunately for us -- the show was better without him.

This week I'm having cable TV problems, which means I have to watch the convention on C-SPAN. It's amazing to see what's going on -- there are some great speeches. Much more entertaining that listening to the yakkers yak, which is what they were doing last night when Gov. Dorgan lit up the house.

Ojore writes: "I'm in Philadelphia and get to listen to Michael Smerconish in the mornings to get an intelligent conservative perspective."

It's been interesting to watch Smerconish (over the past year or so) move somewhat to the left - or at least try to appear more reasonable than the usual Repiglican yik-yak hack. I suspect he knows that the conservative movement has imploded and pretending he was never a part of it is the smart career move.

The more you watch Joe Scarborough, the less you know because he lies, distorts, deceives, and obfuscates. Joe is one of the biggest frauds and phonies on cable.

MSNBC would do a great service to its viewers by providing a straight, honest morning news program instead of a hideous montrosity like Morning Joe.

Morning Joe is a malignant cancer within the cable news universe alongside other carcinogens like The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity and Colmes, Lou Dobbs Tonight, and Glenn Beck.

Joe Scarborough along with his fellow cable tv blowhards Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, and Glenn Beck are hurting America by dumbing down our society to death. Their success is a sign that in broadcast journalism, evolution is working backwards.

Once we had Eric Severeid, Howard K. Smith, Edwin Newman, John Chancellor, Roger Mudd, Robert MacNeil, and Ted Koppel. How and why did we get from these guys to the current crop of cable tv blowhards?
