I think Matt stole this idea from a post I made over on the Volokh Conspiracy. No, seriously, the similarities between Palin and this girl are so glaring that probably a quarter of the nation has made the comparison.
Well, they do have similar educational backgrounds, no doubt.
You know, I saw this clip a little while after this pageant and even now I can't get through the whole thing. Inevitably, at around "South Africa," I freak out and shut it off. Much like Sarah Palin's interviews at around "Bridge to Nowhere."
This little girl has an excuse for looking like an airhead. After all it is the Miss Teen USA pageant. She's a teenager, folks! She's in front of a big crowd, in the biggest event of her young life, and she's nervous. Posting the clip is kinda cruel--the term is cyberbully, I think.
Gov. Palin has 25 years on her, experience conducting herself in public, and allegedly a degree in communications. What's her excuse?

I find this analogy a bit sexist, although that's not really the right word, so give me a break while I explain.
Even though I think it's funny, part of me cringes at the analogy, maybe because it's so overused.
Palin isn't a scholar by any means, and in terms of a VP candidate she's downright unqualified. But still, I think people are too quick to debase women as beauty-queen-airheads. There are other types of airheads out there aside from the beauty queen kind; Pick one.

It was just TWO years ago that she went to the primary debate for governor and spread index cards out over the table to remember her answers. Now, she's falling asleep reading the Cliff Notes for VPOTUS/POTUS and its so obvious when she answers questions that she is bullshitting us.
