As a Redskins fan, I think my guys can beat your guys, but it's still an uphill battle. The 'boys are a very good team, playing at home. (I've hated their sorry asses across the decades, but never disrespected them.) However, eleven points?? If I knew where to get a bet down, I'd be taking those points in a heartbeat.

Best Games:

Minn/Tennessee - Two interesting teams with lots of strengths but with QB issues. I'd go with TN, who has the better back-up QB, but I feel like 'Sota is due for a big break. I'm thinking they win because their defense or special teams puts up some points.

Cardinals v Jets - Two gunslingers always makes for an exciting game. Will the Man-gina let Favre be Favre? He'll need to if he wants to score enough to stay in the game. Which means Favre blows the game and throws interceptions that turn into scores for AZ.

Battle of the Bays, Green v Tampa - I got the Greens. Tampa is supposed to be pretty good, but I can't name anyone on that team except for the coach.

Philly v Chicago - Philly should blow out Chicago, but that should be fun to watch anyway. McNabb is the man.

Dallas v Skins - Sorry, I can't take the Skins seriously, Dallas might have a let down, but they are the class of the league since Brady went down, and still win this game.

I am just hoping that Trent Green survives the day. He is a good leader and a good quarterback, and had some excellent years with the Chiefs, but it makes no sense when your offensive line can't block anybody to go to the less mobile quarterback. It oould be an all you can eat buffet for the Bills front four.

After watching Chambers and Jackson run all over the jets secondary, I think Warner could go for 400 today. That may not be enough to win, but it should be entertaining to watch. Too bad I get the Houston-Jacksonville game instead.

But the main sports related question on my mind is "Will Moose win 20?" This is a cool day. Most of the time, when chasing these records, there is an air on inevitability about them. Bonds, once he got within ten of Aaron, was going to hit 756. Guys are going to get 3,000 hits or 500 homeruns. Moose already holds the record for most wins in MLB history without ever winning 20. And if he doesn't beat the Sox today, it is tough to believe he will ever be able to pull it off. So this is likely to be his last bite at this apple. It is crazy to think that this one start will have a tangible impact on his HOF candidacy, but it probably does. (Although, putting up 19 wins this season does move him close enough to think that 300 is still a realistic possibility, which would end serious debate.)

Between that and the Twins trying to win the Central - nice week for the White Sox, needing to win two games in their last week and choking it up repeatedly - I will be watching more baseball than football today.

Relatively slim pickings today, but I'm intrigued by Niners vs. Saints. New Orleans is coming off that brutal two-point loss in Denver and they're facing 1-3 if they lose today. The Niners, by contrast, are facing their first real-deal game--that 2-1 mark seems like a fluke, esp. with O'Sullivan at the controls, but now's their chance to prove otherwise.

Also, the Niners have Isaac Frickin' Bruce, who I believe is a few weeks shy of his 59th birthday. The Reverend lives...

This is a rough week schedule wise, with the champs, colts, and pats off. I like the vikings/titans (vikings win), jets/cards (cards get a big win and sink the jets season), and boys/skins (boys by 2+ TD's in a high scoring game). Steelers/Ravens on MNF could be interesting as well, although Flaco is gonna get bum rushed. I could see Pittsburgh having trouble moving the ball though, especially with the Ravens D seeking revenge after last year's 5 TD first half from Rothlis. Saints are gonna scorch the niners.

On a unrelated note - GO METS!!! (AND CUBS!!!)

Ha. Nicely done, sir. I myself am waiting for the Bears-Eagles game on primetime. I can't believe they gave my guys two night games already after the dismal record we posted last year, but it's great because this is the only I'll get to see them here in Boston. If Westbrook is out and McNabb isn't 100 percent we may able to steal this thing.

Here's hoping, anyways.

My Rams miss the Reverend right now. They need any help they can get. I've been up at the bar drinking black Russians and shots of Rumpleminze. Or as I like to call them on Sundays--RAMpleminze. I thought we actually had a shot today after taking the early lead. I was wrong. Linehan needs to be fired, and the Edward Jones Dome needs to be burned to the ground.

God, if you exist,(and I'm pretty sure you don't) please bless my Rams with a victory or two for the season.

Good night and good luck. Assholes.

Heh. Hehe. HAHAHAHAHA. Called it last week. Suck it, Cowboys.

Actually, that would have been a very different game if the last two minutes had gone somewhat differently. And that last Dallas drive was a thing of workmanlike beauty. Great drive.

When I was a kid I hated the Cowboys because they were cocky sonbitches who thought they were "America's Team". My dislike of them has mellowed, but is still only exceeded by my distate for TO. So yeah, watching them bite the dust is something of a treat.

And I especially loathe Tom Jackson. He's a fucking blowhard and the worst of the Tom Brady kool-aid drinkers. He went on and on last week about how the NFL was irrevocabl damaged due to Brady's injury, and about how difficult it would be for the league to adjust to "life after Tom Brady". Pathetic.

Merrill Hodge is also a douche.

Say what you like about Gibbs 2.0, but he did one thing none of the other intervening morons (Petitbon? Turner? Spurrier?) could do, and that's beat the Pokes. Skins have now won five of the last seven against Dallas...which means it's officially a rivalry again. Which is nice, because the 90s sucked out loud in DC.

Probably only of interest to me, but Kyle Orton's some kind of numerical cousin of my wife's. Her uncle's great-nephew or some such. I've never met the guy, but her uncle Dutch likes me just because when we met a few years ago he mentioned that his nephew plays for the Bears I was football obsessed enough to see the family resemblance and ask if it was Orton.

Great game.

By the way, a great way to avoid the TV blowhards (at least in the DC area): Turn on Redskins Radio and click the mute button on the TV. The radio's usually a few seconds ahead, which makes for some odd timing, but you get Sonny and Sam instead of whatever dips the networks have called in.

Keyshawn is a hater who's mad that T.O. stole his job. T.J. is just generally old school and a hater of athletes of T.O., Randy Moss, etc, and thus a hater of the Cowboys. Boomer isn't that bad and I like John Saunders. People like Skip Brainless are a joke, and most people get that, but his still a constant voice of disdain against the 'Boys and they give him a bully pulpit to broadcast, especially after losses. But a strawhat poll, IMO, would point to a general dislike of the 'Boys. Maybe not institutional but either it comes from T.O. or Pacman or Jerry Jones but darn near everybody on ESPN seems to have some type of dislike for the 'Boys, which I'll admit, is shared by a good part of the population. Your not getting any complaints in the Philly, D.C. and New York market, I can guarantee you that.

Just avoid ESPN after losses, dude. That's all I can tell you. At least for a few days.
