McCain yells "Fair One"

24 Sep 2008 04:47 pm

This whole thing about McCain wanting to delay the debates, or suspend the campaign, reminds me of being a kid and watching two dudes knuckle up over some minor juvenile dispute. ("Yo, he was trying to talk to your girl!") Inevitably one would rocked a few times and then hold up his hands and get to stalling--Yo, chill son, chill! Lemme take off my chain. Lemme take off my chain!

Its like that first Kimbo Slice video where the other dude gets his eye literally busted open, and he puts up his hands begging for a timeout...

Ta-Nehisi Coates

Stacy,

Dude you don't know how close I was to posting that. But I figured that might be too much...

You almost feel bad for that guy, right? I was literally scared that people like Kimbo Slice existed when I first watched that video.

Ta-Nehisi Coates

Same. I made the mistake of watching a few others. No man wants to say--if that dude got his hands on me he'd kick my ass. But seriously, I see Kimbo Slice, I cross the street.

Kimbo Slice rocks. Btw, Obama just B-slapped McCain by saying the debate should go on and a President should be able to multi-task and Harry Reid told McCain not to come back to D.C.

Looks like Obama is not Obambi after all!

He never was Antoine. Some people wanted him to be and wished that he was, but he was never that guy.

Good for Obama. He's got a hell of a right hook.

Oh, yes, let's avoid making this a partisan issue by announcing we wish to suspend the debate... meanwhile...let's interrupt the important work politicians on Capitol Hill are doing, to ask them what they think about suspending the debate.

I'm still waiting for those applauding McCain's move to name one thing that changed today, other than some bad polls coming out. It isn't like the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. And saying "the time has come to have some meetings" suggests he hasn't noticed what Congress has been doing all week.

Hey Dannity, i knew that from the time i read "Dreams Of My Father", but the "Obambi" meme is a very useful ploy for Obama. The Repubs don't know who they are dealing with, and they are about to find out!

In 6th grade I saw an after-school fight. As it started one of the 2 guys started hopping around in circles. The non-hopper followed for a minute or so and then stopped and asked, "What am I fighting, a fucking kangaroo?"

The hopping stopped and the kangaroo got clocked in about a minute.

Regarding that b-slap, salon says:
"With respect to the debates, it's my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who, in approximately 40 days, will be responsible for dealing with this mess. And I think that it is going to be part of the president's job to deal with more than one thing at once," Obama said. A hint of a smile crossed his face after he delivered that line.

I feel like yelling HELL YEAH after that one

as a previous poster noted, obambi took a hike today and obama stepped up and b@tch-slapped mccain and told him to take a hike.
excellent move by obama!
real gutsy also.
mccain was trying to muscle him into giving away some of the advantage he has on the economic issue and obama told him, thanks, but no thanks. mccain wants to blur the difference on economic issues as best he can. trapping barack into a handholding photo-op would go a long way towards blurring things and wiping away the differences between the two.
this was absolutely the hardballed political thing to do.
he's learning.
mccain is grasping at anything he can grab on to.
also, in his statement, mccain looked kind of ill. the eye on the side of his face where he had that major surgery looked as though it was half closed. it looked bad. i wonder if he is having a medical issue, one that would be very obvious at the debate, leading to further questions about his health. and he certainly wants to short circuit any discussion of that sort, if he can.
i wonder if that factored into this political stunt.

OK, i spent the last 20 minutes looking for the Kimbo Slice fight TNC and Stacy were talking about, and I can't find it. Anyone have a link to it?

You know, what I like about this is that it's the McCain campaign that comes off looking like they're trying (& flailing) the dirty pool. The two candidates spoke this morning about issuing a joint statement, yadda yadda, then McCain drops this bomb in the press in a clear attempt to surprise Obama and score Maverick/Conciliator/Decider/Whatsahoozit points. Leaving Obama to blink politely and say, "Ah...you were saying?" It's too easy!

Yesterday, Mccain and House Republicans tried to leave the democrats hanging on the Bailout. They called him on it.

Now, Mccain thinks this is a crisis and wants to come to Washington to take over the issue, thus grinding everything to a halt. Always putting country first, not a freaking chance. This guy is playing with fire and the entire nation is at stake.

Anyone else see Andrew's post about McCain's schedule today?

He dropped everything to rush to DC an ddela with the crisis, except he still had time to meet with Lady de Rothschild.

More and more his campaign is turning into an SNL skit, hwo do you parody someone who is so busy making a parody of himself?

I drop a lot of criticism on this blog. But that was one of the better analogies I've seen in a long time.

"Yo hold on let me take my shit off yo!" Pop...pop...pop pop, DONE.

this threat has been hilarious.

John McCain is a Punk.Ass.Bitch

period

sorry - this THREAD

So you are all going after McCain because he is going to work to do his job?

Obama counterpunches like a mutha

and Kimbo Slice really needs to play B.A. Baracus in that new A-Team movie

MoeLarryAndJesus

Joe writes: "So you are all going after McCain because he is going to work to do his job?"

He hasn't been "going to work to do his job" since April. This is a stunt that could only fool a Republican.

Joe-- McCain has missed every vote this year-- a 0% rating. And right now he needs to be in Washington? He is pitiful-- why doesn't he just have his second in command step up for a couple of days and do his campaign work? Oh that's right -- she doesn't have that readiness.

Joe, when was he doing his job? Maybe in the car in between meeting with Lady de Rothschild and appearing on the Evening News with Katie Couric?

But wait - is the debate still on? Ole Miss still says it is and Obama still says it is, so is McCain just not going to show up?

Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

If I had a dog in this fight, I'd encourage mistakes on the part of my opponent rather than arguing that he should, for example, get back on the campaign trail or, for example, get back in the debate room.

Obama has to show up at Ole Miss, take off his jacket and his tie, stand in the center of the room... and wait.

If there's one thing the "white working class" (to the extent that we exist) understands, its what it looks like when someone bitches out of a fight.

Ta-Nehisi Coates

yup, so does the black working class--to the extent that we exist. by the way that "pop..pop...pop..DONE" line was classic. seen that too many times, man.
