Well, yeah, I have because I want to ask you about something. For all the racial sub-texts discussed and analyzed in this election, the most glaringly racial act by an actual candidate has gone unremarked as far as I can tell. I have heard Palin repeatedly refer to Obama as simply "Barack." I know she said to Biden "May I call you Joe?" but that was speaking to him face-to-face and an obvious debating ploy. I know too she wants to be just plain folks about everything. But to my 55-year-old white guy's ears, this is a megaphone-sized shout out to the old days when an attractive white woman puts the "uppity one" in his place by using the first name when he can not. And it would sound ridiculous on several levels, I think, if Obama went around calling her "Sarah." Am I the only one who thinks this is weird?

I've thought about it as well, and there is no way Biden or Obama would refer to her as "Sarah." Biden refers to McCain as 'John,' but that's because they clearly know each other. Senator Clinton was referred to as Hillary constantly throughout the primaries, but that might have had more to do with the fact that she shares a last name with a recent President.

If it wasn't for the complete lack of respect I have for Sarah, it probably wouldn't bother me at all...

There's that, too. I used to be a professional baseball player and if you happen to get called up to the big leagues, you don't immediately go around calling great players by their nicknames. Palin's call-up, it seems to me, was totally undeserved which makes her brazen familiarity that much goofier.
