Palin giggled when she mentioned the accidental shooting. In her defense, "Dick Cheney shot an old man in the face" is fucking hilarious. Still.

Interesting how both of them mentioned VPs that went on to succeed their running mates. Palin expressed specific admiration for GHWB thanks to his eventual assumption of the presidency; Biden, although he didn't discuss the tragic circumstances of LBJ's first term, still held him up as a role model. Let's hope neither Palin nor Biden gets a chance to mirror LBJ's situation.

I don't think Palin understood the question. Couric did care about Cheney's personal life. She was asking a question about his term as VP. I think Biden clearly expressed the historic significance and dangers of the increase power the executive branch.

Miguel,
I disagree. I think she was dodging. "What's the worst thing the current VP from your party has done?" Considering that one of the main points of the Obama campaign has been to try to equate McCain with an extension of the Bush presidency, would ripping into Bush's vice president have been a good idea for Palin. "My predecessor from my party has weakened the constitution" might not be the best campaigning strategy. I don't think it was thought out, I think she did it intuitively.
