Robert L. Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, has asked the Federal Communications Commission to approve plans for a new "urban" television network that would cater to a multicultural audience interested in health, lifestyle, education and other issues, a spokeswoman for Johnson told Journal-isms on Tuesday. An ill wind just blew over Harlem. An ill, ill wind.

Just when you thought Obama had made it safe for the public image of Negroes, Bob Johnson claps back:

Don't know much about image, black or white, but I'm thankful for one TNC talking about it here. Something honest and descent about the man. Happy T'day.
Slave catchers never sleep - you know that, Coates
Bob Johnson is a two timing, back stabbing opportunitistic w***e! I can't forgive what he said about Obama in South Carolina. I hope that Obama remembers that insult, and send the IRS after him.
What is his plan, does he want to own it for a few years then sell it for another billion to some multi-national corporation?
It's for damn sure none of his previous projects had anything for an "audience interested in health, lifestyle, education."
You know what this reminds me of? When MTV first started, they were a network that just played music videos. Over time, they discovered other programming was more profitable, and gradually declined to the point where they barely played any at all. So MTV started MTV2, a network devoted to playing nothing but music videos. Over time, they discovered other programming was more profitable, and etc. etc. I give it five years until this happens here.
Gah. Bob Johnson is a terrible person and should have his black card revoked.
We know he's about that paper. I get his game and what he's about but I'm kinda over all that. Ta-Nehisi please que that Miseducation of Lauryn Hill cause it feels kinda good right now.
Didn't Johnson get divorced not too long ago? This tells me that his wife must have took him to the cleaners and that the Charlotte Bobcats are a serious cash drain.
Why so serious Ta-Nehsi? I'm sure we'll all get a laugh out of Bob "Tiny" Johnson's next craptacular business venture. Popcorn?
Bob Johnson is disgusting.
Joe Klein's Conscience, the divorce cost him HALF his fortune. After all, it was his WIFE'S money that formed the collateral for the loan he received to start BET.
What are we talking about here? He isn't planning an over-the-air broadcast network. No FCC permission is necessary. What is this about?

Let's hope he gets it right this time. Live programming on BET is unwatchable for anyone over 30.
