Damn my boys needed that one. It wasn't even the win--it was the method of it. Going into yesterday, I couldn't escape that feeling that we were soft. But they toughed it out yesterday. So let's go folks. How'd your squad do? Looks like the Titans are for real. Which means I get to post Earl Campbell footage. Damn those Oilers uniforms were hot.

Three words: "Da Bears Suck!"
Ta-Nehisi, I'm a Chargers fan. Don't think I need to say more. At least we've got college hoops starting up.
Even though I know they have no chance of doing anything in the playoffs, and may only make them by virtue of the dire state of the AFC West, I like the nucleus of the Denver offense. Cutler does well under pressure, has three good, young targets in Marshall, Royal and Schiffler, and the O-Line is solid. This is a group that championship teams can be built around over the coming years.
I wonder how high Raji will go. He is one of the most underrated players in college football. His linemate Big Ron Brace will be a good player in the league for years to come. If healthy, I like Raji to be an all-pro. If those two guys were playing at USC or even notre dame for that matter, you'd be hearing a lot more noise about them. As a Lions fan, I just don't know what we'll do. We need people at basically every single position on the field, including WR. The Millen era was the most abysmal run of any management era in football. We need a leader with an arm at QB, a line on both sides, linebackers, DBs, WRs, RBs, a better TE, a coach and new ownership.
Ta-Nehisi, Last week you talked some smack about the Giants being irrelevant to the 'Boys. Saying when we get to 4 Superbowls we can talk. Well, we've got 3 right now, and have the best team in football right now. Don't give me this Tennessee crap. The Giants have put on a clinic with one blip of a night against Cleveland. Still, they are on their way to #4.
Okay, those are some outrageous highlights. Thanks for sharing.
The girls certainly did need that win. It was such a typical skins performance. Strong start, lots of inconsistency later. I like zorn more every day, though, and I don't see this squad getting any worse in 09. Zorn as an Obamaesque calm -- no big highs, no big lows, but occasional flashes of anger if someone fucks up inexcusably. And what about Portis manning up and making big plays on a bum knee!
I miss that ol' Columbia blue everyday. It's hard to imagine that I spent all those years rooting for the Oilers, even during the Hugh Campbell era, and now they've been consistent winners in Nashville. It's sickening. Especially when you consider they were replaced with the Texans, who, um, are still irrelevant.
I'm with hurls. Still can't believe we ditched Schottenheimer for the proven loser Norv Turner. And enough from the sports commentariat that the Chargers are contenders. They suck this year. 2nd place in the AFC West used to mean something. Now it means you suck a little less than 3rd and 4th. That being said, my favorite team is whoever is playing the Cowboys.
Whoa...I haven't seen one of these NFL Films highlight joints in a minute. Indeed, you guys really needed that win. All things considered, it was a great game. And although I never give props to members of the Cowboys squad...Marion gets much respect from me. Don't know what's up with my Skins though. If it's not death by silly penalties, it's death by 2nd half fall off--don't know if they just get comfortable and lose sight of things or what. We're still contenders though.
Dear Deadskin fans, You lost. Don't come on my blog trying to take solace from getting smacked. I don't want to hear about Portis. Marion the Barbarian put it on you bums. T. P.S. On a serious note, I do like Zorn.
Joel, I wish the Giants all the luck in the world.
Steelers v San Diego
Yeah, Earl Campbell was awesome! I was amazed to read a while back that tests had showed that Roger Clemens had more lower body strength than Campbell. It helps explain Clemens’ longevity (and was apparently derived to some extent from 'Vitamin S').
Nice win for the boys on the road. My skins didn't play with fire, but I am loving our rookie safety Horton. That kid is playing good ball. Not bad for a millionth round draft pick.
That last drive last night was very Emmitt-like. 11 straight touches, everybody knew what they were going to do, and nothing could be done about it. Also, its amazing how much better their pass defensive can get when they get their best corner back healthy. T-New was absolutley great last night, and that pick he had was clutch. He was laying the wood, which was surprising.
- Some Vintage Romo and some Rusty Romo. - Repeatedly pulling Colombo around the corner is just heartless. He shattered two DBs on one play. - Had to do the O line some good to start pounding on the 'skins in the 4Q. Awesome to see MBIII's final catch be that backbreaker. - Man, did Campbell take some shots. Big shots. - Dallas is still giving away one half to an entire field in Penalty Yards. Unacceptable. I wish Wade thought so...
Niners. Don't think we're gonna make it this year..... Anyway, that clip just makes me think, damn those dudes were slow back when steroids were harder to get.
Want to see something sad? Google any recent articles on Earl. Dude can barely walk. Literally.
Soon, I predict Ta-Nehisi will break down and post an 'Earth, Wind & Fire' clip. Interesting lessons one could draw from the Giants, btw, about personnel. The team concept trumps the stars. Joel, Don't jinx. Please.
And to think, we could have put you chumps away with even the most pedestrian of offensive road performances. Held to under 170 yards of offense and won anyway. Boy is that gonna bite us in the butt if the Bucs are in contention with the Cowpukes for a wild card spot. Talk about missed opportunities!!
BTW we won ugly against Minnesota, but I'll take it. All Day Pete had ya boy SHOOK, cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz!! But the mighty Barrett Ruud put an end to that fear.
Birds TIED the 1-8 Bengals. Get Reid and McNabb out of town and we'll talk.
I kept thinking how great that Earl Campell highlight video would be for teaching grammar. "A preposition is a word that connects or shows relationships between two nouns. Mr Campell went OVER the line backer.
TNC: Portis. Portis Portis Portis. Admit you love him. You love his swagger. You want to gay-marry him. Is anyone excited about MNF? I can't think of a matchup I'd be less interested in.
I am interested. I have a Bill, and my opponent has two Browns in FF.
I went to school in D.C. for a little bit, and I have to say nothing was more satisfying than going to class the day after the Cowboys beat the Redskins. Not that I was a jerk and kept bringing it up or anything.
Hey, did you hear that back on Halloween, Wade Phillips dressed up as a pumpkin for a costume party? Yeah, he was hoping that, at midnight, he would turn into a coach!
Wallyz, Hope one of those Browns wasnt the kicker!
I've decided to become a Steeler fan for the purposes of these discussions. Their helmets are just so pretty. "We" have accomplished so much more than "you", TNC! Ha!
When did Brandon Jacobs become Jim Brown? And how complete is a team when they unleash Jim Brown for the first quarter, then let him rest for the final three -- and STILL run wild over the best rush defense in the league? The Super Bowl champs are starting to gel. This is gonna be fun.
He had Braylon and Jamal , I had Trent. He ended up winning by 2. I was up by 2 going into the game. Trent got 12 points, Braylon had 10, and Jamal ground out 6 points. Yeah that kicker was pretty hot last night.
Brandon Jacobs is the running back we hoped Ron Dayne would be.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
The Bengals are undefeated in the last 3 weeks!! Things are really looking up here... or maybe not.
I'm just hoping they can pick up Raji from BC in the draft. We need an interior defensive lineman who can get some upfield push.
Of course I'm also watching college ball trying to figure out which wide receiver the Lions will pick up #1 this year. ;)
