"A cancer on the Democratic Party"

20 Nov 2008 03:00 pm

Goldfarb on the blogging left:

The Democratic party and the left won a stunning victory in this election, and while they should be savoring it (and most are) a few are busy trying to settle old scores. It's pathetic, but it's also cause for some optimism: these people are a cancer on the Democratic party that even a landslide victory couldn't cure.
Maybe. But if you're gonna take advice, best not to get from  a closeted D&D geek who got sonned by Rick Sanchez. Shall we go to the tape? Lets!

Reminds me of an article I just saw: it's not just the pro-Obama D&D crowd, but the pro-Obama WoW crowd as well!

This is all really funny coming from Republicans who NEVER practice what they preach. All they do is demonize Democrats.

Goldfarb is comedy. Dude couldn't cut a slice in a pizza factory.

So, who IS #2?

It's Hitler, isn't it?

I guess Goldfarb didn't want to Godwin the thread, but he still wanted it both ways. ("You know who ELSE was anti-Semitic?")

Goldfarb's argument would hold more weight if the Dems in power were trying to "settle old scores". Sure there are Obama supporters who are upset that Lieberman still kept his chairmanship. Obama and Ried and other Dem Senators made the decision to save Lieberman and that's that. We will get over it.

I think the right is secretly pissed that Obama was not out for blood. Imagine if Obama didn't support Lieberman. Imagine if Lieberman was ousted from the Dem caucus and stripped of his chairmanship. That would be a huge story and the conservatives would have loved it. But that didnt' happen and the right can't complain...they can't stand it!

wow. Rick Sanchez? i didn't think he had it in him

One thing that irritates the Republicans I hang out with.

Google Peter Fitzgerald.

He's the Republican whose Senate Seat was won by Obama. What?, I hear you ask. I thought Obama went up against that guy who wanted to take Seven of Nine to that bouncy-bouncy club and then against Alan Keyes (Is Making Sense)!

Well, the Republicans refused to back Peter Fitzgerald and Peter went off to spend more time with his family.

Who would have won between Peter Fitzgerald and Obama? I dunno. 2004 was a weird year.

But the Republican Party refused to support the guy who was replaced by the current President-Elect.

Joe Klein's conscience

Jaybird:
What do you expect from Republicans and their stupidity. It's why they won't be coming back anytime soon. Fitzgerald was a really reliable Republican vote and yet they hated him for one or two things. It goes back to the old saying. "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good."

It's not just a Republican thing, look at Joe Lieberman in 2006

DougEMI, that's a predictable comment and also a ridiculous one. Lieberman often voted with the Democrats, but he was in no way "reliable" - he'd been actively campaigning against his party on high-profile issues. And despite this, when he faced a primary challenge from Lamont, he was strongly supported by most of the party, even after he lost the primary and was running against the Democrat that the people of Connecticut had chosen. Even if you like Lieberman for whatever reason, you have to admit that neither the Republicans nor any other party known to man would've been as generous as that.
