I don't have much of a reaction to the story of the day. It'll be great if it works. It'll suck if it doesn't. Profound, no? Still I imagine folks want to talk about this. So here it is my people. Speak your piece.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
T, I think this whole Hillary thing is overblown. Personally, I like her and I think it's really as simple as Obama has indicated...you all run the plays I call, period.
Plus Hillary knows a good deal when she sees one and going long as Sec of State when many can't imagine America's stock being much lower, just sets her up for MASSIVE, GARGANTUAN sized gains, which she will undoubtedly leverage at some point...but such is life.

Mostly, it says that Obama was serious about his belief in having strong opinions surround him.
He is what he said he was!
"It'll be great if it works. It'll suck if it doesn't."
Not sure what "it" is that will be great or suck, but I have faith Obama knows what he's doing. And for reasons I haven't quite pinned down, I believe Hillary will be a good Secretary of State, although I do have some reservations.
Despite what many people have said, I think she'll follow direction. Although she posseses some leadership skills, she's a follower. I say that because of her vote on Iraq. She did not lead, she followed the herd. That part of her actually bothers me quite a bit; we need people with good instincts. But Obama has good instincts, so I'm hoping he'll keep everyone in line.
i'm sure we will stop blowing up wedding parties and other civilians in Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq next year.
I don't really understand the concerns that so many Democrats have about Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. It is not in her interest as SoS to sabotage Obama's foreign policy. If she does, two things happen. First, a divided adminstration is likely to have a failed foreign policy, and her future (i.e. 2016) is tied to the success of the Obama administration. Second, if she sabotages the adminstration to the denigration of the Democratic brand, the Democratic powers-that-be will abandon her.
More thoughts at my website.
@Peter N, DING!DING!DING!
So dead on my brother. I have debunked some of reasons for not wanting her at my website:

Nice spot on WNYC today TNC. Wish you were on Brian's show more often.
I would have preferred to have "the Clintons" just fade away into background (like that would ever happen), but Obama has proven pretty convincingly that he knows what he's doing so probably this will work out well.
Some people are just so determined to be unsatisfied with Obama that they end up arguing that SOS is a soft, girly job:

"That Clinton is the third woman to be the top U.S. diplomat -- after Madeleine Albright and Condoleezza Rice -- only adds to a sense that though women made great strides in 2008, they fell short of a breakthrough.
"Secretary of State has become the women's spot -- a safe expected place for women to be. In the ideal world, we'd see woman as Treasury secretary and throughout these ranks (of government)," Jenkins said."
Are these people on drugs or something?
