Friends,
The paperback of the Beautiful Struggle, my memoir of growing up in West Baltimore during the Crack Age, while addicted to D&D, X-Men and Public Enemy. More to the point I'll be taking a break from Warcraft, and reading at 7 P.M. this evening at the Court Street Barnes and Noble, in Brooklyn. Please come out--but only if you plan to tell me how awesome I am. Life is short. And my ego is fragile. Comments (18)Comments on this entry have been closed. |

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
Any plans to have a reading at the B&N on Broadway and 66th? Looking forward to reading your book -- I'm a fan.
Have you met Junot Diaz? You're younger than him, but your self-id as a nerdy minority all into fantasy and d&d would seem to indicate you two have a bunch in common. That and your interest in language. Diaz is pretty slick with the spanglish slang.
What level is your mage now?
just snatched one for myself over here in europe
looking forward to it
take care Ta, not just the ego
Any plans to do something similar in DC?
I suppose I shouldn't hold my breath that you'll be coming to northern New England anything soon? I'll spring for dinner if you find yourself in Portland.
Will you be doing readings in other cities, like Chitown? We have a lot of great bookstores here Windy City, including independent ones.
(I would love to take a picture featuring you, Rikyrah, and Irish Pirate.)
wow thats pretty close to me..
Good thing I live near the 5, might check this out
I can't make it tonight. :( Please keep us all in the loop about your readings though. Manhattan? Jersey? C'mon, hop the PATH. We promise we won't bite.
Next up: DC? Would be nice. Picked up a copy of TBS a couple months back, by the way. Glad I did.
Awwww...
Don't worry, you're totally awesome.
Sadly, have dinner plans in Union Square at 8, so will miss it. Will you be doing any more of these?
If you're ever up Boston/Cambridge way for a reading, make sure to let us all know. I'd love to come give a listen.
Aw man, WHY am I just hearing about this now!?? How did I miss this?
Wow. Picking up your book tomorrow. I guess Frederick, MD might be a bit out of your way.
daily reader here, not so frequent poster... but just had to say, Damn didn't see this 'till just now... so I missed your reading but thanks for posting it...I hope this means you might get more comfortable doing more of the same... meaning posting when you are doing a reading ( I love the links to you on npr or blogging heads) and hopefully any panels discussion thangs... would loved to have heard you read in person...and you better believe I would of given it up loud and proud for some TNC
My guy and I stopped by last night to hear you. Two observations...(1) That guy introducing you had obviously (a) never read the back of your book jacket, (b) never introduced ANYONE before...and (2) You clearly need to let people know you're a tall dude...I felt so bad the whole time you were bending over to get to the mike so people could hear you...
That said - glad to see you're getting some press for your book!!!
Looks good Ta, ill pass by my local book store to pick up a copy. Cheers and keep up the great writing!
