So this week I'm headed West, touring for the paperback of The Beautiful Struggle. On Thursday I'll be in San Fran at Book Passage. On Friday, I'll be in L.A. at Eso Won. Holler if you hear me.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
Welcome to the City by the Bay. (I live in the South Bay, but still)
For the record, we're not really very fond of "San Fran". But we really really hate "Frisco". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FynELT6iqVI&feature=related shows Eddie Izzard learning this on stage in SF.
Remember, we're a city of snakes!
What, no Seattle stop?
TNC,
I am here in Alexandria VA, and would love to know when you intend to tour the D.C area. If it is on week days, I am willing to take a day off from work. Please let me know!
You're hurting me, Ta-Nehisi...I just got back to NYC from the Bay Area to start my second semester of grad school. They are supposed to have great weather in SF this week, in contrast to our low 30's here. My girlfriend was reading in the park near her place in Pac Heights yesterday, soaking up the sunny, 70 degree weather.
Hit Stacy's bookstore in SF if you need some new reads; it's a local independent institution that's going to close in a few months due to poor sales.
Why don't you tell your editors to send you on a press junkets to Canada? It would be cool!
I second Doctor Jay. Saying "San Fran" immediately pegs you as an outsider.
Then again, it doesn't make much sense for someone who lives in New York to call San Francisco "the City."
TNC: What Tobby said. If you're going to be doing any signings or other promotional events in the DC/Baltimore area, let us know.
I'd ask if your publisher has a web page that says where you're going to be doing readings, book signings, etc., except it does (http://www.randomhouse.com/author/), and right now it's saying, "Sorry, there are no events planned for this author."
Ta-Nehisi is an alum of Vertigo Books and he'll reading here in College Park MD on Wed., 2/11 at 7 pm.
We were happy to host events for the hardcover edition, and pleased to do so again for the paperback. Sign up for our email list for a reminder and please plan to pick up your book here.
...and hoping T will allow this hijack.
Cool - I'm going to try hard to get there.
Mission District toughs have claimed "Frisco," but Sunset District old boys still hate it.
Thanks, Vertigo, I'll sign up for the reminder email.
Aww TNC! I'll already be in DC for the Inauguration stuff, otherwise, I'd have to come down to Eso-Won (that's in my hood too) & check you out!
Have fun in LA!
will you actually go to compton?
Come on up to Vancouver!
And on your way to Vancouver, stop in Seattle!
I just caught this and will definately try to get to Eso-Won! Very cool that you are visiting!
Compton and Eso Won... you're making us cringe over here. Eso Won is no where near Compton but I'll give you a pass for now :)
