« Brooklyn, we go hard | Main | A really good sign » So, so awesome06 Jan 2009 02:00 pm
In roughly six minutes, Ann Coulter asserts that Sean Hannity is more likely to be assassinated than Barack Obama, that the country is teeming with "left-wing violence," calls W. the most persecuted and attacked president since Richard Nixon, and calls Tom Delay a victim of oppression. As I said--So. Awesome. My only beef with this interview was that dude should have let her talk more, and disagreed less. Plus no hits on Michelle Obama. Come on man! More thuggism plz!

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
It reminds me of the Onion's great reportage at the time of the Florida standoff:
http://www.theonion.com/content/news/nation_plunges_into_chaos
The difference of course, is that the Onion is .. well.. reality based.
Coulter is a clown, who is ONLY interested in furthering her pocketbook by PANDERING to the lowest common denominator of republicans

i don't think she believes half the things she says. she just says them cuz she loves the attention she gets by saying obnoxious, offensive, outrageous things.
in the blog world we call those people trolls.
Ahhhh....Ann Coulter, the Thai lady-boy of Conservative pundits.
Speaking of lady-boys; my my, how your adam's apple glistens under those studio lights Mr.....I mean Ms. Coulter.
Personally I find the best response to be changing the channel. I realize that mocking Coulter is tempting and easy, but in so doing you give her a little more of what she craves and needs - attention. It would be better to ignore her and delete this post entirely, rather than endorse the idea that she is worth any attention.
I object to being classed with Coulter and denounce such brutalist tactics as ad hominem and hateful! Tear down that comment, Mr Blog President!
Hey! Some of my best friends are Thai lady boys!
Objection! Some of my best Thai lady boys are friends!
Objection! Some of my best Thai lady boys are friends!
Ah damn it, I almost went and pissed myself laughing.
As a technical point, is it correct to refer to an attack on a lady boy as ad hominem? Either way, Coulter's still a noodle or two short of a pad thai.
dude, i was thinking the exact same thing when i saw this earlier on another blog: just let her talk. she will destroy the electoral fortunes of the GOP for the next few cycles all by her damn self.
these clowns are headed for rump status. and, if this is what they're going to be about, it looks mighty good on them.
Oh goodness. Is she back to speaking? Really, she makes the crazy guy on the street corner who shouts his paranoid ramblings seem sane.
Man - I get a kick out of her. I just posted this video on my blog as well. She's just completely outrageous, man.
When you're getting seriously outmaneuvered on the Morning Show circuit, you ain't got it.
That woman has the worst laugh, demonic, deranged and perverse. Comparing Ms. Uber-Transexual Coulter to Thai Lady-boys is an insult to Thai people and lady-boys all over the world!
Color me surprised she's actually defending Bush. Most of the Republican "intelligensia" has gone on to either deciding that Bush was no true scotsman... I, I mean No True Conservative. It's almost nice to see her standing by her man, even if its because she knows that 30% of the country can be counted on to shell out the cash for her books.
But as a provocateur, Coulter's done. Back in the heady days of Republican hegemony, her screeds were salt rubbed into the wounds of progressives like me. But we're back in munchkin land these days with the lollipop guild and lullaby league, and the wicked witch has no power here.
I wonder how her comments about bastards go over in the Palin household.
Republicans should flee - fast - in the other direction.
thread cross-polination:
"Son, I'm surprised you run with them..."
Every time I see her I just think, is she for real? Honestly, she could be Franken-Coulter. Some creative social conservative's brilliant, scary, larger-than-life monster.
I did learn something from the interview though, I didn't realize she considers herself a comedian. The mind boggles.
Here's another Coulter anecdote from David Weigel
http://washingtonindependent.com/23945/my-ann-coulter-story
she give hacks a bad name
Four thoughts that I had listening to this.
1 You have me wasting a precious, precious work break listen to this person. You owe me fifteen minutes of my life back.
2 I'm reading an article about Al Franken becoming a senator and I'm trying to imagine how bad the Dems would have to screw up to get her elected to a statewide office. I know that is like trying to compare apples and thai lady boys here but still.
3 She just called Joe McCarthy a victim! Whoa. Just... Whoa.
4 When I'm driving around at like 3 in the morning for whatever reason I try to find people as crazy as this on AM radio. Better than coffee to keep you awake I say.
Would it be too much to ask for everyone to ignore this woman? She has a vested interest in being controversial.
I saw this interview earlier today and planned to send it to friends. Then I realized, "I am contributing to this woman's propaganda machine."
I would kindly ask that we don't help spread her gospel.
TNC, don't post her videos. Lets not tell our friends. Turn our backs, pull the mic away from her face, turn out the lights and let her speak to herself for a while. Eventually, she will moderate or she'll disappear. One way or another, we will be better for it.
I see Ann Coulter as Ocho Cinco. Bear with me. I'm a Steeler's fan and I pray daily to the football gods that the Bungles keep OC as their Premier receiver. I know the damage he does to their team culture is worth the points he scores against me. Stay nuts, OC!
Same with Ann. She's a demoralization tool. And no one brings the crazy like Ann.
Daniel,
To run with your analogy, let me just add that it's my hope that your comparison means that Obama becomes the Chuck Noll of politics.
My sincere and heartfelt apologies to lady boys everywhere for comparing you to this hyper-douche, man-beast. The irony of using gender to mock the standard bearer of the lunatic right was just too much to resist.
I'll be traveling to Bangkok in May and will perform self-flagellation as an act of atonement to the Thai people.
I protest! Some of my best friends are man-beasts. *s*
Listening to Ann Coulter is like walking through a garden of LOLs.
As an Ohio State graduate who is completely aware of how amazing Michigan's law school is and of its excellent tradition of producing great progressive leaders like Clarence Darrow, I maintain incredible glee that she is among the institution's most famous graduates. :)
As a Bengals fan, let me (for the first time in about 14 months), step up to defend Chad Johnson.
Unlike Ann Coulter, Chad has (had?) talent. Unlike Ann Coulter, he's DONE something. He's just insecure, childlike, and manipulated by Rosenhaus. The "cancer" stuff is total Marvin Lewis excuse-making. Pure and simple. "We're a better team today than we were in 2005, because we have better guys." Please.
I don't care if he sticks around, but that's because he doesn't run good routes anymore, he's afraid to go across the middle, and he's apparently lost a step.
And F Kimo VanOlenhoffen's cheap-shotting ass.
Ann Coulter is from Michigan U? Oh Aitch!
tom c
The McCarthy line was the one that got me also. The guy interviewing her was just weaksauce in my opinion. David Shuster would have made her head spin around like on the exorcist. What I want to know is what kind of fuck nuts actually pays money for this woman's books? Supposedly she broke the bank with her advance on it.
Ohio State University grads are obsessed with who's who among Michigan grads. Vice versa, not so much. Just thought you guys should know that.
DB Cooper, you make my point better than I ever could. It's all working according to plan! ahahahahaha!
You can live off the Ickey Shuffle a little longer, can't you?
"calls W. the most persecuted and attacked president since Richard Nixon"
I think this part is true. They both deserved it though.
There was a time, long, long ago, when Coulter bugged me. Now I refuse to let her get to me, and I'm far from alone, and the result is that she's getting more desperate to stay relevant. I mean, she's never actually sold that many books--it's all a facade put together by her publisher and the wingnut welfare machine--but at least she got headlines and face time in the past, but that's getting harder to come by now, and if she can't get the face time, she's not going to be much use to the wingnut welfare machine anymore. Hope she's put away some of that loot for a rainy day, because it's looking pretty cloudy in her future.
...calls W. the most persecuted and attacked president since Richard Nixon...
Damn Liberals and their un-American fondness for calling out sh*tty leaders.
Perhaps Dan Coulter can remedy this by starting her own theme park where failed leaders are celebrated. "Mommy! Mommy! I want ride the Hobo Train, eat at Soup Kitchen Island and have my picture taken with Mussolini!"
Umm, am I the only one who thought Smith looked at least as stupid as she did?
His behavior through the whole segment is one long mocking, condescending, self-pitying, self-aggrandizing harrumph. He's like the Grinch who Stole Journalism in this thing. I mean, this makes me want to watch B. Walters interview B. Streisand just to cleanse my palate.
Why does this interview even exist?
Umm, am I the only one who thought Smith looked at least as stupid as she did?
I thought he looked like an adult trying to reason with a petulant child.
And now she's going on the Today Show after all.
They should spring Rachel Maddow on her. I'd love to see that.
I personally liked the idea of millions of illegitimate children mugging the populace at large. Not that there is any evidence - but why would a rightwing victimologist care?
Also, to describe presidential assassin John Wilkes Booth as either liberal, Communist or anarchist is simply downright nonsense. Booth was a Confederate supporter who explicitly pledged to kill Lincoln because of the emancipation of slaves. Sounds fairly conservative to me.
Looking at AC always reminds me of something my mother (rest her soul) used to say whenever she saw a woman with a lot of bleached blonde hair.
"She better not get near a horse."
"Also, to describe presidential assassin John Wilkes Booth as either liberal, Communist or anarchist is simply downright nonsense. Booth was a Confederate supporter who explicitly pledged to kill Lincoln because of the emancipation of slaves. Sounds fairly conservative to me."
And Garfield's assassin felt he was owed an ambassadorship by the President and that God told him to kill him. He was basically just plain crazy.
That leaves two of the four actual assassins -- McKinley's was an anarchist, so I'll give her one, and Oswald did claim to be a member of the communist party, but didn't they disown him? And that's also assuming the single bullet theory is true, there was no CIA or Mafia in the grassy knoll, etc. (I'm not endorsing conspiracy theories, just putting them out there...)
Most of the attempted assassinations were just plain crazy folk --
Andrew Jackson's blamed Jackson for his father's death even though his father had never set foot in the U.S.
Teddy Roosevelt's said that the ghost of McKinley told him to do it.
JFK's first attempted assassin was a postal worker ('nuf said. j/k) who was upset that flags were not being displayed properly and felt that Kennedy bought the Presidency. He was found to be insane.
The guy who shot George Wallace and paralyzed him said his purpose was to "It is my personal plan to assassinate by pistol either Richard Nixon or George Wallace". His purpose was "to do SOMETHING BOLD AND DRAMATIC, FORCEFUL & DYNAMIC, A STATEMENT of my manhood for the world to see". Crazy.
John Hickley, was, of course crazy.
If the world were truly just, she'd have her wallet nicked by Tripp Johnston in 13 years or so.
Tripp's going to be rich, with the family business and all...
Dont. Feed. Trolls.
I'm fascinated by all the "Thai lady-boy" digs at AC. Take away her political views and right-wing thuggishness, and she's EXACTLY the kind of size 0, long-haired blonde arm candy the vast majority of men in New York and Los Angeles insist on dating.
Okay, she hasn't traded in her 32A's -- I'll give you that. But otherwise...
It's worth noting that Gharles Guiteau, Garfield's assassin, was a stalwart Republican, when "stalwart" meant "supports the spoils system of awarding government jobs to loyal cronies," as opposed to those who supported civil service.

Who exactly are you calling a troll? Looking at the above comments, the only one that seems unrelated to the thread and insulting is yours.

Relax, you just missed the joke: Ann Coulter is the TV version of an internet troll...
Coulter is starting to look like a crusty old sea hag these days. Combine that with her fringe politics and sociopathic love for insult... Quite possibly the most unattractive female of all time?
That's hot.
