First, he is mad because Obama "fired" Wagoner.
Then he weeps for the future of capitalism with the government involved like this.
Then he gets mad because Obama doesn't know how to handle this crisis and isn't doing more.
Then he is mad because Obama didn't fire the head of the UAW.
And then he is mad because Obama might require the unions to make concessions.
And then he is mad because the Obama team is not doing enough for the traditional economy (which I guess is the economy outside of the financial markets and not having to do with the auto industry but doesn't involve concessions for blue collar workers).
And that was in one 5 minute portion of the show. No mention that half the things that upset him are at odds with the other things that upset him.
I've come to the conclusion that Lou Dobbs is just barking mad. CNN, it is time to put the crazy uncle out to pasture.
Dobbs has never been for me. But I've caught him on TV a couple times, when I was traveling. Am I hallucinating, or has he actually gotten angrier? It's pretty amazing.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
I remember back like 8 or 10 years ago, when he was just a normal dude. Like Juan Williams was a normal dude. Cable news just does that to people. I'm expecting Anderson Cooper to be pitchforking it in a couple of year. Burn the capitalists arrgrgrgrh!!!
you're not hallucinating.
and i just LOVE his opinion polls. they're always like 97% to 3%.
They are always so unbiased, too.
or
I'm replying twice, but that's okay. :)
Here's the actual poll on Lou Dobb's CNN section right now:
the "real" economy????as opposed to the "fake" economy?
if there were any point to being surprised at the insanity of lou dobbs, i would be, but there's not...
You gotta respect Lou, though, at least he's 'independent.' He's not one of those partisan hacks!! Conservative, you say? Surely, you jest. Lou just goes with his gut.
He really has gotten angrier. It's kind of sad because I think a lot of that anger is based in his realization that he's just totally insane. As opposed to any party affiliation, he likes to say every 2 minutes that he's an "independent populist" which I have henceforth taken to mean racist.
I think he has become angrier as his teeth have gotten whiter. Must be the chemicals.
If putting video of an angry barking dog got the ratings that CNN got from putting Lou on then we would have a angry barking dog giving us our news. Also, possibly on a related note, I think his head is getting bigger, physically. Not he's getting a bigger ego, I think his head may be getting bigger. You could sell real estate on it. If he walked down the middle of the street you would assume it was a float and look for the rest of the parade. We could count it as a second very closely orbiting moon. It affects the tides. There is lots of room for crazy in a melon that size.
are u arguing that the US harbors immigrant inside his huge head? Because that would be very unfortunate and ironic for mr Dobbs..
He'll be cryin' himself to sleep on his hooge pillaw tonight.
Heed! Move! Now!
It's pretty much par for the course for these guys. (Check out Dennis Kneale on CNBC if you get a chance. On second thought, don't.) They say how dare the government let AIG pay out those bonuses, but then complain that the government shouldn't take the money back. They say you can't negate contracts, but that union members must make contractual concessions. Deficits don't matter, they say, until they claim they do because -gasp!- money is being spent to bail out their mistakes and aid the poor. Oh ... and the government can remove the leader of a sovereign country despite widespread international opposition, but how dare the government force out the CEO of a corporation that's only barely alive because of government aid.
It's not like some of their individual arguments lack merit (I share Andrew's queasiness about government firing a CEO), but how about a little consistency? How can't you know that you're defending contradictory positions in the same breath? HOW?
Well, duh, one of the traits of a true independent populist is that all, and I mean all, his thoughts are independent. Of each other. Non sequitur after non sequitur. I commend Dobbs for knowing exactly who he is.
I'm old enough to remember when Dobbs was solely a financial guy. He seemed okay then. He's an A-1 xenophobe now, but he's ratings gold. Ay de mi.
One reason I'm glad I don't have cable (but am happy to have YouTube) is Michael Steele's recent CNN interview. Here are 3 particularly enlightening clips:

LD "Barking Mad?" He is frothing out the side of his mouth, Christopher Lee bugged/red eyed as Dracula mad. Not as bad as that Pat Buchanan though, who basically was advocating the sniper solution to the illegal immigration problem last week on Hardball.
as an immigrant i've always maintained that lou dobbs is a goddamned idiot.
